ABSTRACT: The detection and mapping of wildfires and forest fires has made great advances in recent years. Active fires are still the most important source for rapid, near-real-time identification. In this study, we analyzed the number of active fires with areas of agricultural burning (fire in newly deforested areas and consolidated agriculture) and forest fires. The results show that about 3-18% of the outbreaks coincide with fire polygons and forest fires, and when the radius of influence of the outbreak (1 km) is analyzed, the coincidence increases to 60-82%. On average 30% of mapped polygons may be omitted when analyzing only hot spots. Active fire outbreaks and mapping of burn scars should be used together for better detection and understanding.
